The Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie’s (FQSG) latest newsletter, Info-Généalogie, is now available online. The FQSG was created in 1984 to bring together and represent genealogy societies in Quebec. Today, 71 societies, including the Quebec Family History Society, are members. The list of member societies is organized by region.
Among the articles in the newsletter are:
Congrès de la Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie
Among the eight speakers at the Society’s 8th conference to be held in Trois-Rivières, October 3 – 5, 2014, are Peter Gagné who will talk about the soldiers of the Carignan-Salières Regiment and the Filles du roi; André-Carl Vachon who will discuss the deportation of the Acadians and their arrival in Quebec; and Marcel Fournier whose presentation will be about female immigration to New France.
Semaine nationale de la généalogie
The third annual Semaine nationale de la généalogie (National Genealogy Week) will be held November 22 – 29, 2014 and the theme will be Voici ma famille! Students will be encouraged to learn about their ancestors who served in the military, from the arrival of the Régiment Carignan Salières in 1665 to WWII and beyond.
The Semaine nationale de la généalogie is a week of activities, created primarily to encourage young people and their families throughout Quebec to learn about genealogy and the services offered by societies. There is a special focus on students in grades one and two. The program and activities are free. More information will be announced in September.
Prix Jeunéalogie 2014
Three societies received youth awards for their efforts to teach young people about genealogy: the Société de généalogie de Québec and the Société d’histoire et de généalogie de Saint-Pascal were honoured for their work in elementary schools and the Société de généalogie de Saint-Eustache was recognized for its high school program.
Bonne lecture!

Wow, how many genealogists new that there are 71 societies in Quebec? Sounds like two great upcoming events for this fall. The three societies must be very proud of the awards they received.
Should read “knew,” whoops those tiny keypads !
