Bibliography on the Scots in Montreal and Quebec

During Dr. Gillian Leitch’s webinar on the Scots in Montreal and Quebec to the Québec Genealogical eSociety last Thursday, she said she had created a page on her blog, Gilliandr’s Blog, with a bibliography and links to online resources.

You’ll find the link to the bibliography at the bottom of her blog post.

The five emblems on Montreal’s flag represent the ancestral presence of Indigenous peoples (centre) and the four main European ethnic groups that were settled in the city in the 19th century. Clockwise from the top left: France, England, Ireland, and Scotland.

Dr. Leitch earned her Master’s degree from the University of Ottawa. Her thesis was on Community and identity in nineteenth century Montreal: the founding of Saint Patrick’s Church.

Her PhD thesis at the Université de Montréal was on The importance of being English?: identity and social organisation in British Montreal, 1800-1850.
