During the last couple of weeks, it appears Newspapers.com has added a number of Canadian newspaper titles to its online collection, almost doubling the amount from 45 to 83.
Major daily newspapers added include the Vancouver Province, Regina Sun, Red Deer Advocate, and Saskatoon Star-Phoenix.
With the exception of the National Post, all of the new newspapers were published in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, making one think they are moving from west to east, but that may be wishful thinking.
The new newspapers are a rather unusual bunch, with some from small towns, such as Bashaw and Castor, Alberta with less than 1,000 people, and only a few hundred pages scanned. It makes one wonder what the acquisition strategy is, or if there is one.
There are still no newspapers from Atlantic Canada on the website and there are only a few newspapers from Canada’s two largest provinces, Ontario and Quebec, which seems odd.

Newspaper.com has Tri-City News listed incorrectly. It is for the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, BC.
There’s an acquisition strategy? 😉 Me, I’m glad to finally see these get online. May have to spring for that all access subscription though.
