The Irish Genealogical Research Society (IGRS) has posted three educational videos on how to do Irish research, and they are available to watch for free until the end of February.
The society said, “Over the last while we’ve heard again and again researchers say ‘how I wish that an experienced genealogist could be sat right next me, while online, sharing the benefit of their experience and expertise.’ Now, with the release of an initial three ‘How-To’ Irish genealogy videos, the IGRS is making that wish come true.”
The videos are about census records, Roman Catholic Church records, and Church of Ireland parish registers. A fourth video about civil registration is in the works.
These 15 to 20-minute videos, launched a year ago to IGRS members, are the society’s way of enticing genealogists to join.
Sharing these videos for free for a limited time is a great way for a genealogical society to show people what is behind their members’ wall.
The society has also posted background information about the videos.
Savoir faire is an occasional feature about genealogists and genealogical societies that are doing good things. To read about other creative and inspirational ideas, click on the ‘Savoir faire’ category in the right margin.

From there I got to the site of The Church of Ireland where you can download a colour coded list of parishes and where to find their records.
Time for a trip to Ireland, methinks!

Thanks for this info, Gail. And like Dianne says – it’s lovely to “download the colour-coded list of parishes and where to find their records.” Absolutely!!
