Watch free half-day genealogy conference, Destination Canada, from home

Destination Canada is the theme of the Minnesota Genealogical Society’s free mini-conference this Saturday, February 9 that family historians can attend in person or from home. The conference will interest anyone whose ancestors spent time in Canada between the 17th and 20th centuries.

In this half-day conference, representatives of the Irish, Norwegian, Romanian, and Canadian genealogy groups will deliver presentations about why and how their ancestors migrated to Canada and where to find the records of ethnic groups who immigrated north of the 49th parallel.

Schedule in Central time.
10:00 to 10:10 a.m. – Opening Remarks
10:10 to 10:40 a.m. – Audrey Leonard (Irish immigration to Canada)
10:40 to 11:10 a.m. – Joy Sundrum (Norwegian immigration to Canada)

Break from 11:10 to 11:20 a.m.

11:20 to 11:50 a.m. – Vicki Albu (Romanian immigration to Canada)
11:50 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. – John Vanek (Canadian immigration records)

Break from 12:20 to 12:30 p.m.

12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Speaker’s Panel Q & A (questions from in-person attendees only)
