Manitoba Genealogical Society to host first provincial conference — Issues call for proposals

The Manitoba Genealogical Society has announced it will host its first provincial conference next year to celebrate Manitoba’s 150th birthday, and it has issued a call for presentation proposals.

The genealogical conference will be held June 12 to 14, 2020 at the Canad Inns Destination Centre Club Regent in Winnipeg, with the theme Celebrating 150 Years of Manitoba.

In keeping with the theme of the conference, the Manitoba Genealogical Society invites speakers to submit up to six lecture proposals on these topics:

  • Local area in Manitoba
  • Manitoba
  • Canada
  • Back to basics
  • General research tips
  • Problem solving, methodology and new approaches to traditional research
  • Successful research planning and project implementation
  • Research specifically focused on social, cultural, racial and ethnic groups
  • Sharing and preserving your family history through writing, photography, digital media, etc.
  • DNA: beginner, intermediate and advanced lectures on DNA, genetic genealogy and the application and integration with traditional family history
  • Interesting uses of records including religious, civil, land, probate, military, maritime and newspaper
  • Technology: Providing solutions to improve genealogical research
