Resources for researching Canadian ancestors who served in the military

People planning to research or write about their ancestors who served in the Canadian military, from the Boer War to the Gulf War, would do well to explore the Remembrance section on Veterans Affairs Canada’s website for plenty of information, including timelines, diaries, photos, information about medals and decorations, and the Canadian Virtual War Memorial.

Other Canadian resources, including a link to more than 620,000 First World War service files and war diaries on Library and Archives Canada’s website, are listed in the Military section in the Genealogy à la carte research toolbox.
