Historians campaign to relocate City of Winnipeg Archives to a new home

You may recall reading my blog post, Historians concerned about plight of City of Winnipeg Archives, published three weeks ago. Several historians had expressed their concern about the future of Winnipeg’s archives that were moved five years ago to a smaller facility after the roof leaked caused by a rainstorm.

Now, some of these historians and archivists have put together a campaign to raise awareness about the need to relocate the archives to a better location, and they are promoting it on a new website, A New Home for the City of Winnipeg Archives.

The website contains a backgrounder, a letter to the mayor from the Association for Manitoba Archives, and the first blog post, The City of Winnipeg Archives deserves better, by Gord Goldsborough, past president of the Manitoba Historical Society.

Let’s hope this campaign attracts the attention of the mayor and city council to act quickly.
