Church of Ireland parish registers to be digitized

A couple of days ago, we learned from genealogy blogger Patricia Greber that FamilySearch has digitized the 1926 Canada Census of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and that it is now being indexed.

The good news continues.

Claire Santry shared on her blog, Irish Genealogy News, that the Church of Ireland parish registers are scheduled to be digitized.

She wrote, “The Minister for Culture, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht, Josepha Madigan TD, has announced a capital grant of up to €100,000 for the digitisation of Church of Ireland Parish Registers under the cultural Digitisation Scheme. These register records, some dating back to the early 1600’s, are held by the Representative Church Body (RCB) Library in Churchtown, Dublin.”
