In yesterday’s Federal budget, the Trudeau government pledged $73.3-million over the next six years for the construction and operation of a new joint facility to house the offices of Library and Archives Canada and the new main branch of the Ottawa Public Library.
According to the budget document, the multi-million-dollar commitment represents the government’s share of the project, with the remaining costs to be shouldered by the City of Ottawa.
