The Quebec federation of genealogy societies, the Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie (FQSG), announced the province’s sixth annual National Genealogy Week — Semaine nationale de la généalogie — will be held November 18 to 25, 2017.
This year’s theme is J’exprime ma passion! to encourage genealogists to express their passion and explain what motivates people to explore their family history.

The FQSG describes genealogy as being like detective work: “(Genealogy is) a search for a lost world, an adventure whose actors are the members of our family. Sometimes you have to explore leads, find clues, question people, and analyze information to finally discover a forgotten or unknown ancestor.”
Societies, libraries, archival centres, and other organizations are encouraged to register their activities so they can be promoted on the Semaine nationale de la généalogie website.
How to participate
There are a few ways organizations and genealogists can become involved.

Last year, about 30 genealogy societies and archival centres held more than 85 events during National Genealogy Week.
