The Saskatoon Branch of the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society is looking for proposals from anyone interested in speaking at their conference next year.
The branch will host the society’s annual conference from April 20 to 22, 2018 at the Park Town Hotel in Saskatoon.
The conference theme is Your Family History: Finding and Assembling the Pieces — based on the idea that producing a family history is like putting a puzzle together.
The subject of presentations proposed should be relevant to the conference theme. Suggested areas include, but are not limited to:
- Finding the pieces of your family history: getting started with genealogy research; using technology in genealogy; on-line search tools; finding and understanding records (vital statistics, church records, land titles, probate/wills, etc); using newspaper records; connecting with other researchers using websites or social media; interviewing relatives; using DNA results; cultural and ethnic ancestor groups; using immigration records.
- Sorting the pieces to find the right people; breaking down brick walls; organizing the pieces to use later.
- Assembling the pieces of your family history: preparing a family tree; writing your family history.
Submission details are available here. Deadline to submit is May 19, 2017.
