Canadian genealogist Penny Allen, who now lives in England, is reaching out to Canadian genealogical and historical societies, museums, archival centres, vendors, and related organizations to help publicize what they offer to those who live across the pond. She wants to represent and promote Canadian resources at the Who Do You Think You Are Live! 2017 genealogy conference in Birmingham, England.
Ms. Allen wrote on her blog, UK to Canada Genealogy, “If you are a Family History Society, send me your promotional material. If you are a Museum/Archive, send me your promotional material. If you are a Commercial Vendor, send me your promotional material. I will sell, promote and talk to customers until I am hoarse, on behalf of your organization using whatever material you send my way.”
Since next year is Canada’s 150th anniversary, the timing seems ideal. So far, no one has ever represented Canada in the conference exhibit area.
Ms. Allen has attended several previous WDYTYA Live! conferences as an Ask the Expert, volunteering for the Society of Genealogists, and in 2017 she wants to promote Canadian genealogy research.
The only cost to your organization is to share a portion of the cost for the booth/table space Ms. Allen will manage. Learn more by reading Ms. Allen’s blog post, Canada @ WDYTYA 2017!
