The ‘statistiques’ for the Quebec notary records

In a joint news release issued in French on Friday to announce the online release of Quebec notary records on Ancestry, the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) and Ancestry shared some of the statistics represented now in the collection.

  • More than 7.3 million pages.
  • More than 3,600 registers of notarial acts.
  • More than 1.7 million notarial acts.
  • More than 16 million names.

Ongoing project
Work on digitizing the remaining records, from 1626 to 1935, will continue. From 2017 to 2020, some 3.2 million pages of additional notarial records will be digitized and made available on Ancestry.
