Every genealogist has at least one good family story to tell. We all do. We all have at least one or two interesting characters in our ancestry.
The storytellers who hold my interest are those who share how they learned about their ancestors.
Don’t just tell me your ancestor’s story. Instead, explains the steps you took to find the resources and how you learned about the resources’ existence.
Through your ancestor’s story, teach me how to make my own discoveries.
Montreal-area blogger Diane Tourville is doing just that. In her new series, The Bangle Files, on her blog, Genealogy on My Mind, she shares the documents she discovered, the research process, and the story. Each blog post will be based on a source document.

“The Bangle Series” explains the research steps blogger Diane Tourville took to uncover her family history.
The Bangle Files begins with the story of William Bangle and his wife Marie Tourville who were probably married in Terrebonne, Quebec in about 1794. In the first blog post, Ms. Tourville writes about her research in Terrebonne notary records during a visit at the Quebec Archives in Montreal.
In the second blog post in the series, Diane translates into English the will she found for an Adam Bangle and the questions that raised.
Ms. Tourville plans to publish an article every second Wednesday. The next one will appear October 21.
The Bangle Series is also published in French on her blog, Généalogie en tête.
I look forward to reading the story — and learning about the research.

Thank you Gail for the mention 🙂
