Last week, Amy Johnson Crow launched 31 Days to Better Genealogy, a series of daily emails that provides practical steps to make our research more productive.
Ms. Johnson Crow writes, “Whether you are just beginning to climb your family tree or have been doing this for years, you can adapt the tips and methods in 31 Days to Better Genealogy to suit your needs.”
When we sign up for the 31 days, we receive an email every day with a specific tip, trick, resource, or method to improve our genealogy research.
There is no need to take part in the series at the beginning of a month. We can start anytime.
Special interest groups
It is also not necessary to do the 31 days alone.
Think about how these tips could be used in special interest groups in a genealogy society, whether it be a brick wall group or one focused on a particular country or region. The group could choose one of the 31 days for the theme of a meeting and then choose another for the next meeting. With 31 days, we will have enough ideas for more than a couple of years of meetings.
Without giving away the details, I will tell you that one of the daily tips is about reviewing a particular resource to make sure our research is complete and another is about setting goals.
