British Home Child Day in Brockville, Ontario

September 28 is designated as British Home Child Day in Ontario. To mark the occasion, the Brockville Museum will host lectures and information sessions on Saturday, September 26.

Held in collaboration with the Leeds and Grenville Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and the Ontario East British Home Child Family, the full day of activities features lectures on Home Child Genealogy: How to Find the Unfindable and William Quarrier Children: Orphan Homes of Scotland to Fairknowe.

Between lectures there will be open mic sessions, when the public will be invited to speak about their own home child stories and research experience.  A Marketplace of ideas will feature resources, exhibits and local experts.

The Leeds and Grenville Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will also be on hand to help researchers and answer questions.
