This morning, I am delivering the presentation, 21st Century Genealogy: Taking Advantage of Social Media for Your Research, at the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa’s 21st annual conference.
I hope to whet the audience’s appetite to explore social media for family history research.
During the presentation, I will talk about blogs, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Pinterest and how they can help us become better genealogists.
One of the resources I will share is my newly updated Facebook for Canadian Genealogy list that is available here — Facebook for Canadian Genealogy_September 2015.
In Facebook groups and pages, new and experienced genealogists share resources and tips and learn from each other by posting questions and comments.
To be honest, until I discovered Facebook genealogy groups, I thought Facebook was just a place where people looked at photos of cats. Now, I’m a convert.
UPDATE: You’ll find the latest Facebook for Canadian Genealogy list here.
Follow Genealogy a la carte’s board Pinterest for Genealogy on Pinterest.
I wish I could be there! I am trying to find a speaker on the very subject of social media in Oregon USA without much success. Any materials available so I could try to present it?!!!
