There’s a trick to looking up names in ten Toronto-area cemeteries

In the blog post, Map feature makes it easy to “visit” Toronto-area cemeteries, about searching 10 cemeteries for burial plot locations and how to see them via satellite, I wrote you must enter the surname and at least the first letter of a first name for a search to produce results.

That’s not quite the case.

The search engine is better than I thought, thanks to Mark V who wrote a comment on the blog post.

Mark wrote, “If you enter the name in the surname field and a “%” character in the first name field, you will get a list of all names with that surname that are interred in that cemetery!”

He’s right. It is as easy as adding a percentage sign to the first name field to search only by surname. I tried the same trick on Mount Royal Cemetery’s website, but it didn’t work there.
