2021 Canadian census survey

Genealogists know how important censuses are to our research. Here’s a chance for Canadians to help our descendants… in about 100 years.

Until December 8, 2017, Canadians are encouraged to complete the Canadian Census of Population Survey.

Before each census, Statistics Canada conducts an extensive consultation program that allows interested parties across the country to share their views on how they use census data and the type of information they believe should be available from the census.

The information gathered will help Statistics Canada ensure that data needs of Canadians are met, and that emerging social and economic issues are reflected in the census. The data will assist in determining content for the 2021 Census of Population.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of genealogists’ needs, but you still may want to complete the survey. It took me several minutes to complete. Because the questions are not designed for genealogists, some of the questions were tricky.

Thanks to Karen G.T. for sharing the survey on the Genealogy à la carte Facebook group.
